World Tree Day
Photography Competition

We are inviting young photographers from across Nigeria to join our World Tree Day photography competition, celebrating the essential role trees play in combating desertification and deforestation. This competition aims to highlight the critical connection between trees, the environment, and the communities that rely on them for a sustainable future. The winning entry will receive a cash prize of ₦100,000 and be showcased during our participation at the UNCCD COP16.

The Importance of Trees in Combating Desertification.

Participants are encouraged to explore how trees contribute to ecological balance, climate resilience, and the livelihoods of local populations. Through your lens, we aim to raise awareness and inspire action to protect and restore Nigeria's natural landscapes.

  • The environmental role of trees in stabilizing ecosystems and combating desertification

  • The social and economic importance of trees for Nigerian communities

  • The beauty and aesthetics of trees in Nigeria’s diverse landscapes

  • The role of tree planting in land restoration, climate adaptation, and biodiversity conservation

  • Trees as symbols of resilience, hope, and life in the face of environmental challenges


Eligibility:
Young photographers residing in Nigeria.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Participants can submit up to 3 original photos.

  • Photos must be high resolution and submitted in JPEG format.

  • Each submission should include a short essay explaining how the image reflects the theme and its relevance to combating desertification.

Submission Deadline:
The deadline for submission is Sunday, 17th November, by midnight.
